Other than that - I’m very thankful Trijicon made this scope. It’s a perfect blend of precision and speed. It’s eye relief, size, and FOV make for a fast & compact general purpose optic. For 10-300 yard shooting, this is in my opinion, the perfect ACOG. For shooting under 10 yards, it seems like it’d serve me well - I may toss some Bulter Creek Flip Caps on this one for an occluded option since the construction will allow for it! Trijicon, the caps will make the ACOG Scope Coat a thing of the past.

Something always kept me from hanging onto an ACOG. I feel the TA33R8 was made just for me!

If you’re looking for an ACOG - don’t overlook this guy. It is in my opinion the ultimate 10-300 yard SHTF ACOG for a 14.5″- 16″ AR15. It’s truly an amazing piece of glass.

The Fobus HK1 for my USPc .45 doesn’t hold the gun securely. Every other Fobus I’ve used held the gun positively against negative G; IOW, if you fell on your back, etc, the gun would stay put. A determined tug was necessary to release it.

Not this one; you can now ease the gun out with two fingers on the butt. Obviously, that’s a no-go. The first few days it was fine; perhaps something is wrong with it, after a couple of hundred presentations. Oh, well…

I ordered a Kramer this afternoon.

BTW, I’ve been toting for 28 years; 226 days till retirement. I’ve come full circle: from using “common” Leather Holsters as a rookie, to discovering custom stuff, then the Fobus, and now back to custom.

And THAT Pistol Magazine about the best summation of the situation I’ve ever read. Good post, Barry.

I realize I’m digging up a corpse that is better left buried, but all the “experts” on these boards just wear me out at times. I’ve carried a G19 in a Fobus GL2 professionally for over seven years. I’ve snagged it on door cowboy holster, car doors, etc., numerous times; it is still quite serviceable, thank you.

Browning Magazine

Got it yesterday. Shot it, fifty rounds of browning magazine 115s on steel. No problems, cept the steel was calibrated for .40 and I had to hit it that much higher to put it down. Hell, I finger fucked it so hard before I got the paperwork done I had already bled on it. I’ve bled on every one of my fighting pistols, its only the revolvers I don’t bleed on.

Somehow FedEx shipped it to QUEBEC first. How they did that I do not know. I was fortunate that they did not discover the contents of the package before they flew it back to the United States!

Now don’t flame me for asking this and it’s kind of off topic, but I was thinking about it the other day. Would you dare shoot Wolf through that? I don’t know why I thought of it, I don’t even own any. I’m just curious. I have shot some through my browning magazines and even my 1911, but hobbs said I shouldn’t back in the day.

Colt 1911 magazine

There are several of the "production line" custom smiths like Wilson, Les Baer etc. that will sell you a super-accurate gun, if thats what you really want. Yes, they are expensive, but they are very very good. The last brand I would buy is a Colt 1911 magazine, not because they are bad but because they offer poor value… you are paying a premium price for the pony rollmark on the slide. A Colt makes sense for a collector or for someone with more money than sense, but otherwise you get more bang for your buck with non-Colt 1911 magazines brands.

One more point - bear in mind that, in general, 1911 accuracy is gained by tightening clearance in critical areas (barrel lockup, chamber, slide-to-frame etc.), and this can increase the propensity to malfunctions. For a carry gun, you do not want accuracy at the expense of reliability.

Pistol Magazines

Most of my shooting Pistol Magazines have been with Glocks. Though I love them, I’m living in Washington now, so I’d like something I can just go up some dirt road and let a few rounds go.

Its just a plinking gun, so cheap ammo is a plus. If I do go with the Pistol Magazine, I’ll probably pick up the Tac65 suppressor to go with it.

Any reason I shouldn’t get one?
Any recommendations on where to order?(not interested in the package with the suppressor, I’ll be picking up the suppressor a little later)
Good recommendations on ammo? I hear the CCI High Velocity work well, and are cheap.
Is getting the laser worth it? Can it be seen during the day?

CZ 52 magazines

CZ 52 magazines , poly, 9mm. It has the cheap glow-in-the-dark night sights instead of the tritium ones, but who gives a crap.

It’s got the rounded trigger that I prefer instead of the one that’s almost straight, and the trigger pull is smooooth!

I picked it up from Academy for $487 out the door. The website stated they only come with 10-round magazines. The guy I called to make sure they had them in stock said they only come with 10-round magazines. The card next to the display pistol said it only came with 10-round magazines. The only one they had left was the display pistol, so I snagged it.

Opened it up just now after getting home. Came with a snap-cap with about a dozen soft green primer things, a trigger lock (I’d throw it away if I weren’t a packrat by nature; the hazards of having Depression survivors for grandparents. ), a magazine loader, and… two 16-round CZ 52 magazine.

HA! Suck on that, Academy!

She’s beautiful! This pistol has so much character, I’ve GOT to give it a name! Now I gotta look up Czech names online for this thing.

No range report any time soon, as I’m an impoverished college student. I only was able to afford the pistol thanks to a donation by a VERY generous and wonderful friend. I wasn’t able to afford a box of ammo, however.

Finally! A REAL handgun (no, my CZ 52 magazines and my Mauser c96 Bolo I’m currently restoring don’t count. ), and one I’ve been wanting to get for the last three- no, nearly four now- years.

My day is made.

Has anybody been able to mount the newer Eotech 517 or 557 over the bulky M4 handguard (like on the Colt 6920) and be able to fit a 3X magnifier and BUIS too? I want to be able to swing a 3x magnifier to the side and be able to use my ARMS low profile BUIS. It seems like now that the new Eotech 517 is designed to sit over that bulky M4 handguard, I ought to be able to buy a swing-to-the-side mount that also allows me to use my low profile BUIS too.

“Additionally, a portion of the front base has been raised to allow the sight to fit over standard hand guards found on many M-4 or M-16 style weapons”

From the looks of it, it might not slide all the way up to your forward-most slot, but the fact that the buttons are on the side of the unit will allow you to butt the magnifier mount right up to the back of the sight, which may create enough room. If all else fails, I’d buy everything from a vendor with a good return policy so you’re not stuck with something if it doesn’t work.

Springfield xd magazines

I bought mine from Springfield xd magazines. I got the dark earth gun and no one had them in stock with the matching x-tension. I could find the black ones all day. From what i remember buying them from SA wasn’t that much more than any place else. I didn’t think 37 dollars (Springfield xd magazine) was to unreasonable. If I wasn’t so picky about how the gun looked I would bought the mags without the x-tension piece. 11.00 dollars for that little piece of rubbery plastic is a bit much. I just checked Midway’s web site, they are only 1 dollar cheaper than SA.
